ŃEALE AZBUIRĂTOARE (Flying Sheep)
dir. Alexandra Gulea
Romania/Germany, 2022, 24', colour/black and white
Alexandra Gulea’s film ŃEALE AZBUIRĂTOARE interweaves visual and acoustic material in a multi-layered tale about a nomadic minority who are a pawn in the hands of the powers surrounding them. Visually powerful, superimposing historical and contemporary material, the work guides the viewers through individual fates without dictating any specific interpretation.
Congratulations to everyone involved!

Selection from Erol's statment:
I believe that a life founded on giving can touch the hidden layers of society and intersect paths of different stories. A life founded on constant taking and amassing is stuck in a repetitive, suffocating circle that results in a fall towards decay. Mahir’s father gives him a golden opportunity to take stock of his experiences before it’s too late. When you think about how difficult it is to have a fitting opportunity to look back on your experiences, we could consider Mahir lucky.
